2016 was such a crazy year! Along with huge political events like Brexit etc, (which still needs to get out asap) it was also a really big year for me. The first 8 months was in Japan- I blogged all about it and you can find more on my adventures in the Japan tag. (I'm still blogging about it because I got a little behind... whoops.). Then once I was back in the UK, I've had a bit more chill time, getting back into the routine of *actually studying* things like history and international relations along with Japanese. It's been a bit weird, and I definitely miss Japan and had a healthy dose of reverse culture shock, but I think I'm settled back in now. I blogged about my 2016 new years resolutions last December, so I thought I'd take a look back at whether or not I achieved them.
Anyway, these were my New Years resolutions for 2016:
1 Travel more// Yes! I did travel a heck of a lot- all the way to Kyushu. I didn't get to Shikoku or Tohoku though... but I'll definitely get there next time I go to Japan!
2 Go to gigs and festivals// I only got to one gig this year, but it was to see my all time favourites SuG at Umeda Akaso so I'm going to say I achieved this one
Blog more
3 Get better at photography especially while I have such gorgeous things to photograph// I definitely think I improved this one! I practised a lot with the DSLR, and while my photography is still far from perfect, I reckon it's an improvement. For instance I'm totally proud of the very aesthetically pleasing Sakura pictures that I used for this post.
4 Improve my handwriting// nope, but I have almost made peace with this. I'd settle with just making my Kanji look better
5 Eat healthier and drink more water// I've definitely achieved this back here in Leeds, go me!
6 Sleep 12.am to 7.30 am because no sleep makes me grumpy// I am actually doing this, finally. I need to keep this up!
7 Reply to messages more quickly// still need to work on this.....
8 Get back into a routine with studying // I did study a heck of a lot last year, although I still could do more to make it an automatic *routine*.
9 Pass JLPT N3 or N2// I passed N2 (and I passed it pretty well at that) I think I'll do a post soon on how I study Japanese, and how I passed the N2 in just two years, if anyone is interested.
10 Be more honest and upfront rather than being passive aggressive and sulking, sort out any problems I have head on// I think I have done this... Haven't had too many falling out with people luckily.
11 Get an 'excellent' grade from Leeds for my year abroad// probably? I don't know but I think I should have..(?)
12 Pass all of my Osaka classes// Yup :^)
13 Save money// I spent a tonne of money, but it was spent travelling in Japan, so I wouldn't have it any other way to be honest. Although I do have to be a little more disciplined now I'm back home.
14 Be happier!// I am trying to look after myself a lot, so I am going to give this one to myself.
I'm going to pat myself on the back and say I did good in 2016, and I achieved most of my New Years Resolutions too! I'm also proud that 2015 was the first year I didn't have 'lose weight' as a resolution. #recovery :) I'm going to post about my 2017 new years resolutions soon too. How did you guys do with your new years resolutions? I hope you all had a great 2016, and that 2017 is even better <3
Thanks for reading! -Amy xoxo
