The other week I picked up "In Utero" by Nirvana from King Kong records in Amemura. King Kong Records is a used CD and vinyl store, and when I saw nirvana for 800 yen (just over £4) it was an insta-purchase. Usually when I've looked in HMV, they've only had "nevermind". That was of course was my first nirvana album as it's the most famous. I bought "nevermind" on a whim a year or so ago, having only heard "smells like teen spirit" and having a vague feeling that I should listen to more of the 'classics'. Then I realised that I really like nirvana :D. After that, my friend Tasha bought me "Bleach" for my birthday which I blogged about a while back.
Anyway, about in utero:
This album is really enjoyable to listen to! I don't think it did as well in the charts at the time as "nevermind" but it's still a really good album! One of my favourites is "Dumb", which is a bit slower and more reflective. Like the verses on neverminds' "lithium", which is possibly my all time favourite Nirvana song. Also, the intensely awkwardly titled "Rape me" is pretty good. I also like the louder songs like "milk" "Tourette's" and "ape man".
Overall opinion is: yes. Buy it. Cmon, it's nirvana. Now I need to go find some more grunge to listen to :)
Also, as I own three nirvana albums, I feel like I can finally buy a shirt without being a poser, haha.
Seriously though, I really enjoy this album!
Thanks for reading!
