Yasaka Jinja in Kyoto
Howdy :)So as of yesterday, It's been three months since I upped and moved halfway across the world -literally- to Japan for my year abroad.
I can't believe it's been three months!Time really does fly. Having said that, I feel like I've done a lot and I've made the most of my time here so far. I still have so many places left that I want to visit though! This evening, I've just spent about an hour scrolling through Japan Guide (Top website by the way: really easy to use and full of useful information) and drooling over slightly further afield destinations like Amanohashidate, Shikoku and Tohoku.
Last month was exciting and I managed to do a lot, but to be honest I've definitely had a bit of a burn out. I wasn't sleeping enough and I didn't look after myself enough. Look after your health guys! In particular, sleep. It's so easy to deprive yourself of sleep (hey, I'm writing this at 1am Japan time) and you don't realise how big of an impact it has on your mental and physical health.
In other news, in just over a week it's going to be Christmas and the blogosphere has absolutely exploded with gift guides and the like. Japan also has a surprising amount of Christmas events and Christmas decorations (just another excuse to bring out a new line of merchandise, in my opinion). It's made me just a teeny bit homesick. This is going to be my first Christmas without my family, which is also a little emotional. Thank heavens for Skype, and also my darling who is coming to stay over Christmas.
As I've had a 'burnout' in real life, my blogging schedule has suffered somewhat... Over summer, and the first part of Japan, I managed to keep up daily posting and to be honest I miss it. I have so much to post about, what with trips in Japan, but I also want to start posting fashion and lifestyle posts again. I want to improve my blog in 2016, so stay tuned!
Lastly, here's a roundup of where I went in my third month in Japan (and therefore a sneaky preview of some upcoming trip reports)
- Osaka (of course)
- Tokyo! I went on a whirlwind tour of Japan's capital, including Harajuku, Meiji Jingu, Sensouji,
-
- Gifu
- Tamba
- Minoh Waterfall
- Banpaku Kinen Kouen and the newly opened Lalaport Expocity
- Himeji and Naoshima
- Hikone
- Umeda Hep 5 and Super Spinns
- Kobe and the Illuminarie
- Kyoto
- Umeda German Christmas market
- Namba parks, Hikari Tabi and Den Den Town
I'm pretty behind with blogging about all the stuff I've been up to, but I want to write about it properly and not rush. Hopefully it will be worth the wait!
Thanks for reading!
-Amy xoxo
