We had a day off from Uni, so on a whim I decided I wanted to go to Uji. And it turns out it's a lovely place to visit!
How to get there
You can get to Uji on the Keihan Line (from Yodoyabashi in Osaka)
Or on the JR Nara line from Kyoto station. The Keihan Station's architecture is awesome.
Uji was really quiet, because it was a Friday, but I don't think it would get as crowded as Kyoto, so it seems like a good option if you're looking for a more chilled day.
First, we went to Byodoin, which was huge and really impressive. I think the Phoenixes on top of the roof are on the 10,000 yen note, too. To get into the temple was around 700 yen, which included the museum, which was pretty large and well done.
After Byodoin, we wandered round Uji, went into another shrine and temple, had some great Sushi at the Sushi place near the Keihan station (it's delicious and cheap, If you're in Uji, definitely give it a try).
Uji is actually famous for its' tea, but I didn't buy any. Ah well, I guess I'll have to go back!
Thanks for reading!I love it when spur of the moment trips go well ^^
