First, a disclaimer: I took 0 good pictures... for nice concert pictures, go see Avril Marie, she's a pro. I'd missed Fizzy Blood play twice recently- once because of an essay crisis and then again because they were playing on Christmas Eve. So when I saw they were playing Headrow, I couldn't resist picking up a ticket. The tickets were only like £9 too, score!
Aaanyway, I had a lecture on in the day, so I came back from Sheffield, quickly went home and then ran back to town. First up was Koyo- I missed most of their set (gotta start being on time for gigs more), but the little bit I heard sounded really nice and relaxing. The next band was Forever Cults- they were all right! They had quite a nostalgic rock vibe, and their set went pretty well. I think a lot of the audience knew them, and they seemed pretty into it. In the interval, I shelled out for a (really expensive) drink. Headrow house is quite a cool venue- Lippy Magazine did their launch party there in November, but the drinks are not cheap and the view wasn't the best. I'd still go to gigs there though, especially if it's a cool band like Fizzy Blood.
Then, it was time for the main event, and Fizzy Blood were great! They played all the hits, had good banter with the crowd, and seemed like they were having a lot of fun. The audience was pretty into it too- especially when it came to songs like I'm no good, Animals, andJanuary Sun. I'd definitely go see them again.
I got their latest EP, Summer of Luv, and all the songs on there are solid- I've listened to it a lot since I've bought it (yes, it's been almost 2 months and I'm finally listening to something other than Technology...) and it was only a fiver, so it would be rude not to! I didn't manage to get the guys to sign it though, which was a bit of a shame. I'll just have to go see them again, right?
Do you guys like Fizzy Blood?
